About Prem Kutir

PREM KUTIR is set up as a home for SENIOR CITIZENS of MIDDLE and LOW income group, on a sprawling area of approximately four acres of land in SHILLAR village near KARJAT

Thanks to the generous donation from Shri Krishna Chakravarthy, an entrepreneur and philanthropist, the trust received a piece of land at Shilar village where the trust constructed PREM KUTIR.

The 4 acres property nestled in Shilar Village near Chilar river is very well connected by road and rail . It is situated ~25 Kms from KARJAT railway station and is ~2 hours’ drive either from MUMBAI or PUNE.  Transport arrangements are provided from stations to PremKutir. The property commands a panoramic view, being situated in the valley of the Western Ghats, and has a peaceful ambience. It is a Divine Location to relax, enjoy the nature and view of  the matheran and bimashankar hills.

Thanks to the generous and magnificent gesture of a few philanthropists, PREM KUTIR has constructed 14 independent cottages – each cottage comprising of one single-occupancy and one double-occupancy rooms furnished with basic amenities and attached toilets. Each cottage has a sit out area.

Admission

  • Only individuals of the age of 60 and above, who are in good health and mobile, are eligible for admission. In case of couples at least one of the partners should have attained the age of 60 years.
  • Applications in the prescribed form (link to PDF.) should be submitted to the Board of Trustees.
  • An individual seeking admission to PREM KUTIR will have to undergo a medical fitness test by trust-appointed/nominated/designated Medical Practioner and the applicant will have to bear the cost of such medical test. Successful clearance of the medical fitness test is essential to be considered for admission.
  • The decision of the Board of Trustees shall be final and binding, and no reason may be attributed for refusal.
  • Service Charges for the first three months shall be paid in advance at the time of admission. The subsequent monthly service charges shall be paid in advance before the 5th of each month. The trust recommends monthly payments through direct transfer/auto debit by ECS. The trust has an account with ICICI Bank and the details will be available with the trust office.
  • When the Resident plans to go for a longer duration, either in India or outside, he/she has to inform the Manager at least one month in advance of the planned vacation. However, Residents should note that the monthly charges are payable even when they are travelling on holidays.

  • When a Resident desires to install his/her personal TV set, personal computer in the room, the management will provide a separate sub-meter (cost to be borne by the resident) and the Resident will have to pay additional electricity charges on the basis of the usage. The rate per unit will be notified by the trust from time-to-time.
  • Separate bill will be raised each month and the payment should be made within 7 days of receipt of the bill.
  • Deposit will be refunded after one year or at the time the Member leaves PREM KUTIR, whichever is later, after adjusting for any dues payable by the Member and deducting 15% which shall be retained by the home as a donation.
  • In the event of the death of the Member, the deposit will be refunded to the nominee registered with the trust, after adjusting for any dues payable by the Member.
  • Two close relatives of the resident will be required to sign a letter of undertaking in the prescribed format at the time of admission to the home. These relatives will be deemed notified persons.
  • No resident can appoint any person for any personal services except with the written permission of the board of management of SIES-Seniors Home. Permission would be accorded only in exceptional cases like sickness etc. and only after a written application has been made in that behalf.
  • The resident must bring their own personal effects, including toiletries, clothes, woollen clothes and other articles as per their personal requirements.
  • Residents are prohibited from bringing into and consuming within the home, any form of alcoholic beverage and drugs.
  • Smoking isstrictly prohibited anywhere in the premises.
  • Serving or Consumption of non-vegetarian food is strictly prohibited.
  • No cooking is permitted in the dwelling unit except for heating  water/liquids.
  • Residents will keep their room and the surrounding area neat and clean.
  • Residents must take into consideration the comfort of other residents when playing the television, radio or music system, and maintain a low volume.
  • Residents shall maintain the decorum of the home and shall not indulge in arguments, fights, abuses, etc.
  • Residents are required to seek the permission of the Manager before leaving the home. The Manager must also be informed of their return, which should be no later than 6.00 pm. No resident may stay away from the home, except with the prior permission of the Manager. The resident shall deposit the keys of the room with the Manager before leaving the home, even if it is only for a short duration. No refunds of the monthly charges will be issued to residents seeking to go out of the home or stay away from the home, and residents shall make these departures at their own risk.
  • All personal belongings of the residents are the responsibility of the resident and the Manager or the trust shall not be responsible for damage or loss of property of residents.
  • In case of sickness or a medical emergency, the Manager shall, based on advice by a Doctor, arrange to admit the resident to a nearby hospital at the resident’s risk and cost and inform the notified persons. The home will not bear any expenses for the same.
  • In the event of death of any resident, the Manager shall inform the notified persons.Should no one come forward to claim the body of the resident and eight hours have elapsed since the death of the resident, he/she shall be cremated with dignity by the home. No claim of any nature whatsoever would be entertained from any person claiming to be the legal heir/relative of the deceased for the disposal of the body. The residente has confirmed full understanding of this position.
  • Visitors will be permitted only during specific visiting hours, by prior intimation or permission.
  • Residents shall abide by the rules and regulations framed by the Trust. In the event of serious breach of any rules, the Trustees shall have the right to direct the resident to peacefully vacate the room and leave the home.
  • The Trustees reserves the right to change, alter, modify, omit or amend the Rules and Regulations without prior notice, and the same will be final and binding on the residents and the notified persons.
